My daughter recently wrote a funny story about a spider that made its home underneath the dashboard of her car. It is an amusing story and one that I can totally see happening to her.
I miss her terribly. We have a special relationship, my daughter and I, and we had some really great times together when she was growing up. Sometimes it's hard for me to believe that she is married and living six hours away. For the longest time after she left, we would go into restaurants and when the hostess would ask how many I would say, "Five." Then, I would remember that she wasn't with us and have to change it to, "Four."
Anyway, before I start bawling and short out the keyboard with tears, check out my daughter's story. I think you will find it amusing. You can read it on her blog HERE.
Today is Day Five of Operation Baby Bunnies. Andrew took today's photos.
I've been reading and learning a bit about cottontail rabbits. Only 15% of them live more than a year (mostly due to all of the predators). A three year old is considered lucky to still be around. They usually have 2-4 litters each spring/summer. Their development is pretty quick (it has to be if their life expectancy isn't that long). A female can have a litter and then mate the next day!
I'm sure that once the babies are old enough to be out exploring that taking photos will be much harder. And I'm not sure we'll want to be around them too much and have them not be fearful of things they should be. But for now it's fun seeing how they grow and develop.
Today was the first day that we picked up any of the babies. They didn't like being out in the light. They're still small. Their fur is soft and they feel fragile.
If you could do anything you want tomorrow, what would it be?

Tomorrow is my "Saturday," seeing as it's a three-day weekend. Whoo hoo! :) I had plans to go to Vegas, but I'm looking forward to staying home and relaxing instead. I want to get in a good workout, and I'd really like to hit the beach sometime over the next few days! That's really about it.
Out of anyone in your address book, with whom would you most like to have lunch today?
Not feeling very social today, but maybe my aunt in Washington :)
How long do you take in the shower?

It depends on whether or not I need to shave :P If not, I need at least 15 minutes. If I do have to, then it can take 30 to 45 minutes.
Don't Worry
Read: Numbers 13:26-33
Jesus says in Matthew 6:25-34 “Do not worry.” Don’t worry about the basic needs of life—food, clothing, shelter—and don’t worry about tomorrow.
Worry may be a symptom of a bigger problem. Sometimes it’s a lack of gratitude for the way God has cared for us in the past. Or perhaps it’s a lack of faith that God really is trustworthy. Or it may be a refusal to depend on God instead of ourselves.
Some people expand the worry circle to their families, friends, and churches. They’re a lot like the 10 spies in Numbers 13:26-33 who spread their fear and doubt to everyone else. But those who put their trust in God alone can stand alongside Joshua and Caleb, the only ones in the group of 12 whom God allowed to enter the Promised Land.
Don’t let worries hold you back from what God may be trying to teach you. He invites you to bring your anxious thoughts directly to Him (Phil. 4:6). To be anxious about nothing, pray about everything.
Ambassadors For Christ
Read: 2 Corinthians 5:14-21
2 Corinthians 5:20 "So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
Share the good news and guide others toward a deeper faith. Being
“ambassadors for Christ” (2 Cor. 5:20) opens doors of opportunity both
to share the gospel and to strengthen the struggling. Seek out someone
today who needs encouragement or “the word of reconciliation” (v.19). A word of encouragement can make the difference between giving up and going on.
Joyful Living
Read: 1 Timothy 6:17-19
God’s greatest gift to us is our relationship with His Son Jesus.
It’s a gift beyond comparison. Jesus promised that when we abide in Him
we will experience the fulfillment of His joy (John 15:11), and without
that kind of deep, abiding joy the rest of life is mundane at best. But
Scripture also casts the joy of the Lord in terms of temporal things.
The enjoyment of “things” can be a positive spiritual experience. When
we recognize that He “gives us richly all things to enjoy” (1 Tim.
6:17) and that “every good gift . . . is from above” (James 1:17), our
hearts should be full of thankfulness and praise. This, in and of
itself, is an act of worship! Enjoy the Giver and the gifts.
I didn't have time last night to post photos from yesterday. And actually my photos from yesterday didn't turn out very well, but I do have a video.
The photo below is from after posting on Day Three. We've been seeing mom coming around 8:30 to check on and feed the kids. Here she is leaving. She heard me exit the screened in porch and quickly left the nest.
Yesterday we were out checking on the babies between severe thunder storms. We got around five inches of rain! Roads were flooded, trees down, etc., but no harm at our house. We were both out driving in the stuff at different points. I had to go various ways in order to get home and avoid flooded roads. I still had to drive through some flooded spots but was able to avoid the really deep stuff. We also battled mosquitoes while we were out checking on the nest. With the crappy weather and mosquitoes my camera wasn't interested in focusing. At least the video came out okay.
The babies are looking even more like rabbits now with their brown fur and ears growing.
